For those traveling from afar, here are some ideas for you to add on to your trip before or after the wedding...
If you're arriving a few days before the wedding or planning on staying on after, we recommend the following:
For those looking for adventure - surfing is a must! January is a great time for beginners to try out surfing in El Savlador because the waves aren't huge. Check out spots around Sunzal, Zonte or El Tunco. Puro Surf and Palo Verde are great hotels if you're looking for comfort. If you want a more rustic vibe we recommend Olas Permanentes or one of the many places in El Sunzal or El Tunco. There are also some cool hikes around that area if you want to check out some waterfalls.
El Salvador's coffee is world class, so we definitely recommend visiting a coffee farm if you have the time. El Carmen in Ataco is a good option.
If you want an activity that's not too far from the city - hike the Volcan de Santa Ana.
If you have an extra day in the city, visit the historical centre. Go play billiards at La Dalia - a historic club in the old town and check out the cool architecture of Iglesia El Rosario.

Guatemala
Guatemala has so many beautiful landscapes to explore - from volcanoes and lakes, to pyramids and cute little towns.
For those up for adventure - check out Tikal. Deep in the rainforest, it's one of the largest mayan cities with some pretty epic ruins - by far one of the coolest places we've been. We like to stay 2 nights inside the park at Jungle Lodge so you can go explore at different times of the day.
For those looking for a bit of culture, Antigua Guatemala is a truly special place. A quaint colonial town nestled between volcanoes, with stunning architecture all around. Our favourite hotels are El Convento and San Rafael. We recommend eating at Santo Spirito and Clio's. If you're up for a hike - there are options for all levels up the different volcanoes that surround the city - if you're lucky you might even see one erupt!
If what you really want is to relax in a beautiful setting - go to Lake Atitlan. Casa Palopo is one of many beautiful hotels we recommend. If you're into yoga and all things wellness definitely check out Eagles Nest.
Mexico City
Mexico is one of our favourite countries in the region - there are too many places we could list, so we're sticking to Mexico City for those looking for a cultural city break that doesn't require too many days do to.
We recommend staying in Condesa or Roma Norte - both are great areas to stroll around, with lots of restaurants, bars, boutiques and coffee shops. Please ask us for our list of recommended restaurants, sights and galleries - it's too long to put here!
Day trips to see pyramids or ride hot air balloons are a few options if you have extra days...
